While our Stellas were blooming a couple of weeks ago, our first "unique" flower has bloomed. Isle of Man is a GREAT way to start the season - see for yourself:
It looks like there is another Isle of Man just waiting to bloom, and our Happy Returns and Little Business are also eager to blossom. It's an exciting time of the year!
Stuck in the Middle
Halfway between Chicago and St. Louis, we are two daylily and gardening fanatics in Peoria, IL. Watch this blog for the antics, excitements, and frustrations of Jim and Jacob.

Greece? Ancient Rome?
We joined a group from the CIDS club for a carpool through the countryside to visit a bunch of nurseries. Our first stop was at this place, and I wanted to bring it home with me.
I felt like I was in Greece or something - it was just beautiful. We came home with a handful of goodies, but I haven't taken any photos of that yet. Check back later!

We're a-Bloomin'!
This year is already going by SO quickly! We're at the end of April, but we've got columbines, irises, allium, and daylilies - yes, DAYLILIES - blooming already. The rose bush looks like it's ready to explode, too!
Our local AHS club is having the annual potluck and auction this weekend, so we have been busy with our preparations, plans, and budget, and we're excited to have the chance to grow our garden even more.
The time is rushing by, so I'll quickly leave with a photo of our first daylily blooms for this year, which came from our group of stellas:

Spring is Here!
Spring represents new growth and lots of changes, so it seemed only natural to start a new blog. With the early Spring and all the new growth already taking over the yard, the excitement of the season is upon us.
We are on our way home from Hornbaker Gardens in Princeton, IL, and BOY did we get a bunch! Hornbaker is starting a new season today, and they are running a special on some of their daylilies. They're selling entire clumps of them for $10, where some of them would otherwise sell for $40-$60 if they were broken up and potted regularly. We made it out of there with 7 clumps of what promise to be unique and wonderful blooms in the summer.
Hornbacker is also clearing out their ENTIRE iris field, which means great bargains on those plants. They don't dig them up until July, but we placed an order for about 10 or 12 of those as well.
While at Hornbaker, you can't help but look at more stuff. We also got a Pink Poodle coneflower and a Gold Heart bleeding heart.
It looks like we're going to be busy this weekend and even busier as the summer continues. Photos and more stories to come!
